Modi seeks 300 lotuses, roots for strong Govt at Centre

Wednesday, 30 April 2014 | SUNIl KUMAR | HERBERTPUR (DEHRADUN)

Sharpening his attack, Modi said that the Congress ‘Shehzada’ visits the home of a poor family to learn about poverty. “While visiting Taj Mahal, you carry your camera and show your near and dear ones your photographs with Taj Mahal. Similarly, the Congress Shehzada visits a village along with large number of media persons to show people that he has learnt about poverty. I have lived in poverty and know the pain of the poor; so you vote for a strong Government,” Modi said. BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said that general election-2014 is not being fought by political parties, leaders or candidates, but by the people of the country who are fed up with those who ruined the country.

“I want 300 lotuses (seats), including all five seats of Uttarakhand, to form a strong Government at the Centre and pull the country out of the ditch. When a car gets stuck in the mud, then driver pushes it to get clear but when a vehicle gets stuck in deep mud then the driver needs more help and when vehicle falls in deep trench then you need more force like heavy equipment. Currently, the nation is in deep trench so to put it on the path to development we need a  strong Government at the Centre.”

Connecting the people, especially BJP leaders and workers, who were sitting on the right side of the dais and were unintentionally creating hurdle by shouting slogans in support of Modi during his address, Modi stopped his speech and said "will you allow me to speakIJ" Seeing the harsh face of Modi, excited supporters stopped shouting slogans and the ground which had around 12,000-15,000 people maintained pin drop silence. Responding to this, Modi said “apka pyar aur gussa sar aankho par (I respect both your love and anger).” By controlling over excited crowd, Modi has given example of tough administration.

Amid escalating war of words, Modi alleged that Congress leader (Rahul Gandhi) visits a poor family to understand poverty. He goes to their house along with large number of media persons. “It seems he visits their house to see how many legs, hands, eyes, belly and tongue they (poor) have. He goes there because he was born with a golden spoon in his mouth. There, he (Rahul) holds street children and get his photographs clicked. During his visit, he eats their ration as well. He visits to see poverty, but I was born amid scarcity. I know how I was passing my nights with my empty tummy. Even my mother was crying because she was unable to feed her child. To fight poverty, I started working as a tea vendor in the train.”
