A Maoist leader was killed and another severely injured in an exchange of fire with the People’s liberation Front of India (PlFI) members at the Bounsjore weekly bazaar, seven kilometer from here, on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mangal Toppno (28) of Mamabhagna under the Bounsjore police station of Jharkhand. Source said an exchange of fire took place suddenly between the two groups. While Mangal died on the spot, two bullets hit Seban lugun of Dandamunda village.
The police sent Seban to the Biramitrapur Hospital, but later he was shifted to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) and then to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH).later, the Bounsjore and Biramitrpur police jointly intensified the combing operation whereas the Biramitrpur police sealed the border and intensified their patrolling. Earlier on Tuesday, one Prabhu Sae (28) had got bullet injuries in his shoulder in an exchange of fire between the two groups at lambei Bazaar under the Jaldega police station.
