As a host of senior politicians from different parties as well as several former bureaucrats continues to join the party, the BJP loyalists are skeptical over seat allotment as they fear to be denied tickets in order to adjust some of the heavyweight newcomers in the party. Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) president Amitabh Chaudhary, laxman Prasad and Sheetal Oraon all of whom were former IGs in the state police joined the saffron brigade on Tuesday.
Party leaders however, are of the view that the benefits of good days must be given to the loyalists who have devoted their time, energy and life for bringing the party to the present position.
“Benefits of ‘acche din’ (good days) must be given to only those workers who have been loyal to the party so that the morale of the party workers remains high,” said party spokesperson Pradeep Sinha. According to Sinha, if the workers are able to bag 12 out of 14 lok Sabha seats in the state, the party leadership must think about giving tickets to the loyalists who have devoted themselves for the party, added Sinha.
State BJP President Ravindra Rai however, has been saying that the leaders joining to the party fold are being inducted without any assurance of tickets to them. Senior party leaders however, are of the view that some of them will definitely be given tickets where the newcomer has strong chances of winning the seat.
“No one joining the party has been assured of giving tickets to them but winning maximum number of seats in the state will be the priority of the party and no partiality will be done in that,” said a senior party leader requesting anonymity. He also asserted that it may raise resentment inside the party among the loyalists, he added.
He, however, said that the party is thinking over all the aspects but the priority for the BJP will definitely be getting majority of seats in the state.
The feedback and the sentiments expressed by the recently held ‘raishumari’ (workers meet) among the party workers are also being considered by the senior party leaders sitting in New Delhi. State party president Ravindra Rai, minister Sudarshan Bhagat, Arjun Munda as well as Raghuwar Das are meeting with the central leadership of the party on Thursday in New Delhi to talk over the list of candidates during the Assembly Elections.
