Undeclared assets worth crores came to light during a lokayukta Special Police Establishment raid at the local dwelling of a 1987-batch Madhya Pradesh State Administrative Service officer.
Property worth Rs 65 crore has been recovered so far, but the official sources claimed that the total figure might cross Rs 90 crore.
"The search commenced this morning at the Gulmohar locality residence of Joint Commissioner (Revenue) Ravikant Dwivedi posted at Mantralaya. The accused and his family were present during the action. Documents pertaining to 25 assets, 15 bank accounts and two lockers were seized," Superintendent of Police (lokayukta) Siddharth Chaudhary said.
The official's wife possesses a multi-storey hotel in the principal business area Maharana Pratap Nagar and two factories are in the name of Dwivedi's son. The accused owns three modern printing presses, three duplex houses in posh localities, more than half-a-dozen plots, about 10 ha here and in surrounding areas, a private vehicle company's service centre, a shop and an under-construction hostel. The lockers would be opened on Friday.
Official sources said that when Dwivedi was posted in Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation, he helped his son open a printing press in Govindpura. He used to help his son in getting most of the contracts for printing.
Dwivedi is State Administrative Services (SAS) officer of 1987 batch and remained posted as Deputy Collector most of the time in Gwalior-Chambal region. However, the lokayukta officials claimed that he prospered much during his postings in Gas Relief department and in MP Textbook Corporation.
