The Advocates for National Development (A4nD), a lawyers’ body which provides free legal support to the citizens for a common cause, has prepared a People’s Manifesto for the 2014 elections in collaboration with the Social Alliance for Human Advancement (SAHA) and urged all political parties to include it in their respective manifestos.
Claiming that they have prepared the manifesto conducting a study on people’s need in the State, secretaries of the two organisations, Abdul Samim Akhtar and Bhaktipada Behera, said the suggestions made in the manifesto would help a new Government to deliver better governance.In the manifesto they have suggested that the political parties promise to take stern action against fraud chit fund organisations and builders and to return money to the investors as soon as possible.
Other points mentioned in the manifesto include plans for agricultural development and maximum benefit to farmers, reduction of environment pollution, supply of quality power in rural areas, delivery of speed justice to citizens, ensuring of hygienic water to all, optimum protection to women, health development plans for children, modernization of school education system, promise for filling of all vacant Government posts, prison and police reforms, formulation of small scale industries policies and new plans for development of the people belonging to minority, SC, ST and other backward classes.
Besides, it has also suggested that four cities, Brahmapur, Koraput, Rourkela and Baripada be upgraded as model cities in order to provide equal facility to people belonging to all parts of the State.
