KKD's Baidyanath to contest from Narla

Friday, 28 February 2014 | PNS | ROURKELA

The Koshal Kranti Dal (KKD) nominated Rourkela scribe Baidyanath Mishra to contest from the Narla Assembly constituency in Kalahandi district.

After a prolonged discussion in the Koshal Maha Panchayat on Sunday, a consensus was arrived at in favour of Mishra, who is also a former soccer star of all Odisha fame. Concept of the Koshal Panchayat itself is the brainchild of Mishra, who is the working president of the KKD. Mishra has a strong conviction that voters of an area should select their candidates before they go to contest elections. With this objective in view, Mishra worked hard since January last to constitute the ‘Panchayats.’

The Sunday ‘Maha Panchayat’ was presided over by Prof Jatin Kumar Mund, who has taken over recently as president of the KKD of Kalahandi district unit. Party’s advisory council chairman Pramod Kumar Mishra and its member Dr Akshaya Kumar Nanda were among those who addressed the gathering. KKD is gradually emerging as a strong political alternative for western Odisha, they said.

Kosli Ekta Manch chairman Goreknath Sahu, KKD vice president Jagannath Mund, Keshab Chandra Bhoi and Medinidhar Jani apart from district vice presidents also spoke. Mishra thanked the voters of Narla for reposing their faith on him. Formation of all panchayats in the constituency will be completed by March end, he said.
