The villagers and family members of Hemant Kumar Swain, a resident of Hurasahi under the Patkura police limits, on Tuesday urged the State Government to release Hemant and Amarendra Sahu from Maoists who had abducted the duo on last Tuesday from Sibida village under Palalahara block of Angul district.
Hemant (55) was engaged as supervisor for last several years at Angul–based BN Agrawalla Construction firm. For last some months, he was engaged at Sibida village in a PMGSY road construction project. Hemant and two others were abducted by Maoists from a camp office though one of the three was later dropped on the way.
“last time, I talked with my father was on November 21. My father told me to come to the village on November 23 to celebrate Diwali. But on November 22 when I made a call to my father, he did not pick up the phone,” stated Hemant’s daughter Pinky with tear rolling down her eyes. She along with her family members was apprehensive because though a week had passed to the kidnap incident, the police were having no clue about the abductees.
Gitanjali Swain, the wife of Hemant is bed ridden as she has been suffering of heart disease. She is yet to be informed about the kidnap of Hemant. Meanwhile, Hemant’s villagers have also urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for early step to release the duo from the Maoists. Police suspect that the Maoists might have taken the duo to Jharkhand.
