The leader of the Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Satyadev Katare, on Sunday said that he feared for his life as he continued to raise allegations of the MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.
Katare in a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday took exception to the use of water cannons to quell a protest led by him in which he was injured. The way the water cannons were used against the peaceful protestors was against the set norms and was lethal.
"Being Chief Minister you must be knowing that water cannons are not used from behind and from front side too it is used below the waist. That your administration attacked us from behind which could have been fatal seems like a well-planned strategy," he added. He said that the Congress will continue with its agitation against MPPEB scam and press for Chouhan's resignation over the issue. "I fear that I could be eliminated in some agitation by adopting similar ways by your administration. Though I could not believe that this is possible but still I am writing you this with great burden on my heart," he added.
The Youth Congress had organised the protest against the MPPEB scam outside the Chief Minister's residence on June 27, but were stopped by the police which carried out a cane-charge and used water cannons to disperse them.Katare had suffered injuries during the protest and was admitted to the JP Hospital from where he has been discharged. The leader of the Opposition said that the agitation will continue and the Congress will continue to press for the resignation of Chouhan.
The copies of the letter were also sent to President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav.
