Karat to attend CPM convention

CPI(M) national secretary Prakash Karat, politburo member and leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suryakanta Mishra would attend the inaugural session of a three-day-long 20th convention of the State party unit on January 3 here.

Around 500 elected representatives of the party would attend the convention. According to a Press release issued by the party, the open convention of the party would be held at the Rastrabhasa Prachar Samiti field on January 3 where Karat and Mishra along with party State secretary Janardan Pati and MlA laxman Munda would grace the gathering.

A host of issues like skyrocketing price rise of essential commodities, problems of farmers and labourers and communalism would be discussed at the convention.
