Rekha Devi proposes name of Rana for Block Pramukh

The newly-elected members of Kaljikhal Block Panchayat in Pauri district held a meeting at the block headquarter with 20 of the 23 elected members attending the meeting.

The block development committee members attending the meet unanimously decided to support Mahendra Singh Rana for the post of Block Pramukh in the election to facilitate the desired level of development in the area.

At the BDC meeting, member Rekha Devi (Nalaee, Patwalsyun) proposed the name of Mahendra Singh Rana which was supported by members Urmila Devi (Thair) and Ashish Kumar (Seero Aswalsyun).

All present members then gave their consent to support for Rana for the post of Kaljikhal Block Pramukh. The 20 BDC members later distributed copies of their support letter to the media.

It is pertinent to mention here that Rana held the post of Kaljikhal Block Pramukh for nearly two and half years after the previous block Pramukh lost in a no-confidence motion. Talking to the media in the presence of the 20 BDC members and Congress leader Rajendra Shah, Rana said that the three tier Panchayat election was not fought on party lines.

He said that he would seek the cooperation of all in facilitating the required level of development in the area. Responding to a question Rana said that the members supporting him will try to persuade the remaining members of BDC to elect Rana the Block Pramukh.

The condition of roads, schools, hospital and drinking water problems will be his main focus if elected to the post of Kaljikhal Block Pramukh.

The members of BDC supporting Rana include Darwan Singh (Timri), Anoop Kandari (Thapli), lajwantii Devi (Silath), Godambari Devi (Agrora), Rekha Devi (Nalaee), Neelam Dabral (Guthinda), Sripal Singh (Asgath), Ravendra Singh Bisht (Aasuee), Sukhdev Singh (Ghandiyal), Anita Devi (Deeusa), Shantoshi Rawat (Sakani Badi), Meenakshi (Garkot), Netra Singh (Bunga), Urmila Devi (Thar), Anju Devi (Kanda), Mahendra Kumar (Nagar), Kanti Devi (Barkholu), Subhash (Mahar Balla) and Kavita Devi (Seero).
