Kalagarh station resumes power generation

The Kalagarh Hydro Electric Station resumed its power production on Sunday after the authorities of Uttar Pradesh released water in Ramganga River from the Kalagarh dam.

The Official spokesperson of Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) Madhusudan informed that the 198 MW Kalagarh power station resumed power generation at 12.30 pm on Sunday. He said that the General Manager of UPCl Sumer Singh Yadav called the senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department on phone after which the water from the Kalagarh dam was released.

The production in the Kalagarh power station was stopped due to paucity of water in the dam. The UPCl authorities were trying to persuade the officials of irrigation department to release water. On Friday too the UPCl GM Yadav tried to contact A K Ojha the Engineer in Chief of UP irrigation department but he was unavailable.

Madhusudan said that the power availability on Saturday was 38.11 MU against a demand of 38.27 MU. He said that the due to flushing works in the Chila Power House the power production in the State was affected. The non continuous industry of Jwalapur and Manglaur faced a power cut of 1.30 hours on Sunday.
