Jobless youths to gherao State Secretariat today

Monday, 30 June 2014 | PNS | Dehradun

The agitating Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) / Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed Federation has decided to gherao the State Secretariat on Monday.

The General Secretary of the federation Amit Kashyap told The Pioneer that thousands of unemployed youths are expected to arrive in the State capital on Monday.

He said that the patience of the agitating youths is fast waning as the State Government is doing nothing to clear the hiccups in the recruitment process of teachers. On Saturday the agitated members of the federation locked the main gate of the State Primary education directorate and raised slogans in support of their demand for recruitment.

The B.Ed / TET federation has benn protesting since January 5 this year and is demanding that the State Government should immediately fill the large number of vacant posts of primary teachers in the government schools.

After the agitation the Education Department initiated recruitment process for 1891 posts of primary teachers. The department later added 96, 800 and 389 more posts under backlog quota in this recruitment drive.

The recruitment process received a jolt when Uttarakhand High Court quashed the recruitment advertisement of 1891 primary teacher on the ground that the process of recruitment is not as per the guidelines laid down in the Uttarakhand Primary Teacher Service Rules 2012- amended 2013.

The B.Ed/ TET qualified youths argue that it is there last chance to get the Government job as the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has clearly directed that the posts of the primary teachers should be filled only by the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) qualified candidates.
