For the first time ever State Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs department will unveil a Youth Festival on Friday evening at Mega Sports Complex. The programme titled “Abhivyakti” is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Hemant Soren at Tana Bhagat Stadium of this complex this evening and will conclude on March 2.

Unlike the school and college youth oriented programmes held regularly at State Museum, this Government sponsored Youth Fest has included Rock Band and Fashion shows competitions besides cultural and literary events.

Museum Curator M Sarfuddin while speaking about the details of this fest said, “In drama, ‘One Act Play’, ‘Mime’ and ‘Traditional and folk drama are to be held. Clay modelling and One Act Play will be conducted in Fine Arts. There will be a special dance and song competition by disabled youngsters admitted in various NGOs across the State capital. Digital Photography and Film show competitions are also scheduled.”

Notably, this department had held auditions for entry to the various competitions including theatre, dance and music on Monday and Tuesday. Till Sunday, the maximum entries (around 15) were made by Rock Band performers.

“There will be live performances by prominent celebrity rock bands of India like DSR Mumbai and TNTC Bengaluru,” Sarfuddin added.

At a Press conference on Sunday, the Minister of this department Geetashree Oraon mentioned that State Government will be hosting a grand youth festival in the next three or four months. She told, “This Youth Fest is just an initial step.”
