Jail inmate commits suicide

An undertrial jail inmate committed suicide in Raipur Central jail on Monday.

The deceased used a towel to hang himself in Jail hospital, informed, Jail Superintendent Dr KK Gupta. The incident happened around 1 pm after the deceased was on way back to the Jail following the meeting with his wife, the Jail Superintendent said. According to wife and brother of the deceased, the deceased identified as Fallu alias Mukesh Markam (30) son of Jagmohan Markam was deeply disturbed over rejection of his bail plea, he said. 

Dr KK Gupta further informed that after meeting with Mukesh instead of going back to the  cell in jail went towards the Jail hospital. He then reached barrack number 13 in the Jail hospital and hanged self with ‘gamchha’ (towel). Soon his brother who is also in jail and jail guards reached at the spot and brought him down but by that time he had succumbed.

Police informed that Mukesh was facing charges of murder and brawl. Meanwhile the body has been sent for postmortem and a case in this connection has been registered with Devendra Nagar police station.
