The Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor Kiran Dev will present the annual budget of the corporation for 2014-2015 here on Friday which would be his fourth and last budget during his present tenure as the Mayor.
He is expected to make budgetary provision concerning the problems of common man looking as the general election is round the corner.
Speaking to reporters, the mayor said the JMC has completed over seventy per cent of the work for which it had made provision in the budget for 2013-2014. The JMC also carried out several works which were not mentioned in the budget while some work could not be taken up due to lack of approval by the administration.
Although it was not clear the exact amount of the budget he is going to present, it would cross more than `300 crore. Dev said the latest budget would be based on the suggestions and requirements put forth by different committees of the corporation.
He said the door to door garbage collection and passenger waiting centre had been set up by the JMC in Jagdalpur town has become a model in the State. The JMC has been collecting garbage from about 250000 houses daily. Besides work was on to beatify the Gangamunda pond and water harvesting structures.
When asked for his comments on the allegations made by the opposition that many works have remained incomplete, he said some works were not completed because of several reasons.
However he said the work for beatification of Gangamunda pond, work on Bailakot, Mukti Dham and slaughterhouses were on. He said natural disaster like heavy rains, assembly election, and festivals also hindered progress of some works.
