Interactive Modi at his best, jibes at Sorens

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at his best on Saturday at the election rally at Morhabadi ground as the crowd cheered, clapped, chanted Modi’s name besides, singing in the same tune as the PM and nodded to the call of bringing about a change in the State. The half-an-hour of speech was loaded with metaphors and was powerful enough to make people visualise each and every word as Modi tore apart opponents.

Modi, while making a call to bring change reminded people of the power they should wield in ideal conditions and the authority to pull the reins of a government chosen by the people but at the same time pointed at the hurdles as a result of too many parallel authorities that come up when a coalition government comes to power. The prime minister made people realize the importance of knowing who to took to task for if aspirations are not fulfilled.

“People of the country have the right to pull the ears of government but whose ear you will pull if you have no inkling of who’s to pullIJ” quipped Modi.

How accountability suffers due to coalition Government where sense of responsibility is also a casualty thus providing a window for corruption and personal development at the cost of people was highlighted through the remark of equal partner in ‘paap’ (sin). Through the acerbic attack Modi attempted to make people realise that the incumbent Government of Congress-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha—Rashtriya Janta Dal allegedly plundered the state together but each passed the buck on the other to dodge the responsibility.

“Jab paap karne ka mauka hota hai to malai kha lete hain lekin jab hisab dene ka samay aata hai to kahte hain iska paap hai uska paap hai (When it comes to committing sin they gobble down everything but say it’s somebody else’s sin),” added Modi.

It was a time to tear apart the incumbent government for alleged failure over drinking water projects, no headway over construction of a capital (greater Ranchi) for the State, issues of migration, poor electricity despite being rich in resources like coal. The prime minister described Jharkhand as a lamp that illuminates country but fails to keep its house illuminated.

“Nature has given so much to Jharkhand but there is darkness at the foot of the light house… we have a water pipeline project in Gujarat on which both father (Shibu Soren) and son (Chief Minister Hemant Soren) can drive a car and travel a distance. Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are of same age but Chhattisgarh has created a capital which people come to see,” maintained Modi at the election rally.

It was not just all attack that marked Modi’s speech. The prime minister brought attention towards development as the panacea of all ills for Jharkhand and coined it as the ‘jari-buti’ for the problems of the forestland. Modi was interacting with each person present at Morhabadi ground as his call was responded by the crowd in one voice.

“Jharkhand ke liye jari-buti kya hai (What is the herb (remedial measures) for Jharkhand)IJ” asked Modi to the crowd.

Although the response (herb is Modi) was not in line with what Modi thought nonetheless he corrected it. “Jharkand ke liye jadi-buti yehan ka vikas hai (Development is the herb for Jharkhand),” pointed out the BJP’s star campaigner.
