Some intellectuals here on Thursday urged all political parties in the State to ensure winning of Independent candidate and acclaimed sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra to the Rajya Sabha.
“Out of the 250 RS members, 12 persons are nominated by the President for their contributions to art, literature, science and social services. But unfortunately, not a single Odia has been selected under this category so far,” former Utkal University Vice-Chancellor Binayak Rath told mediapersons.
“All the political parties should consider Raghunath Mohapatra’s candidature positively and ensure his win,” observed Agami Odisha president Dhirendra Kumar Ray.
Among others, Prof Gokulananda Das, Prof Santosh Tripathy, Pratap Rath, Agami Odisha convenor Saudarshan Das attended the Press conference.
