Workshop on land acquisition on Aug 9

Days for languishing and crawling infrastructure development projects of Jharkhand are on the verge of taking a summersault with the coming of new regime at the helm in Center.

The Prime Minister Office (PMO) has put several such projects stalled abruptly in the want of acquired land under its monitoring cell and exerted pressure on the State Government for facilitating speedy progress.

Sources privy to the development confirmed to The Pioneer that the PMO has kept Tori-Shivpur rail line in latehar and similar project in adjoining Chatra district under its own monitoring and applied constant push for quick acquisition of Government land involved. Besides these other big ticket projects belong to National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Hazaribagh and also National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) of Bokaro.

"The Tori-Shivpur line is being monitored by the PMO directly. We have got recent reminder to expedite the land acquisition for the project. We have intimated the concerned DCs for moving proposal of acquiring land belonging to Government so that it can be completed as soon as possible," said a top official of Revenue and land Reform Department.

Similarly the power major NTPC has Chatti-Bariyatu, Pakri-Barwadih, Keredari and another jointly with Chatra in Hazaribagh. DC Sunil Kumar admitted that the projects have accumulated problems like illegal encroachments on the already acquired land.
