A letter purportedly sent by terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM) to Principal of Welham Girls’ School has sent police into a tizzy. The letter written in Hindi threatens to unleash terror strikes between March 30 and April 8.

Speaking at a Press conference here on Sunday, Dehradun SP Navneet Bhullar said that the letter was delivered by an unidentified person to a security guard of the school. Police questioned Surender Singh, the security guard, who received the letter at gate no-19 of Welham Girls’ School on Saturday. He told the police that a person, who came on a scooty and wearing helmet and black jacket, handed over the letter addressed to the principal to him at the gate.

Surender thought it is a routine letter, which was kept in envelop, so he gave the letter to the principal when she arrived. As the principal read the letter, she immediately informed to the Dehradun Police SSP over phone and police rushed to the spot. Talking to The Pioneer, a senior official said that the police were examining the letter in all angles. The letter threatened to take revenge of Kashmir, Gujarat, Muzaffarnagar and other parts of India, where Muslim were massacred. They mentioned that Army has butchered Muslims in Kashmir.

The letter also claimed that IM didn’t believe in mayhem but the Indian Government understands this language only. “With this bloodshed, we want to send a message to the Indian Government, which believes that by arresting few fidayeen squads from Banaras and Delhi they have broken our back, that we are now stronger than earlier,” the letter said. Such threat letters are not new. Earlier, they were sent through post office or dropped in letter box. This time such letter was delivered by a person. It seems person, who has personal revenge with the school, might have sent letter to traumatise the school principal.Meanwhile, police stepped up security in and around the school and CCTV footage to identify the youth.
