Hindu activists vandalise cinema halls for screening 'PK'

Wednesday, 31 December 2014 | PNS | Neemuch

large number of right-wing Hindu activists vandalised cinema halls and disturbed screening of Bollywood film —PK across Nemuch on Tuesday. Posters of the movie were torn off and were set ablaze.

Interestingly during the protest and vandalism, the police personnel were present there but remained mute spectators. The activists were headed by Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Nirmal Narela, district head of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Babulal Naagda, Bajrang Dal district convener Prem Kushwaha, district security head Neelam Garg, City convener Kailash Nana Malviya, deputy convener Bablu Saini who reached Miraj cinema hall and disrupted the screening of PK movie.

later, the mob reached Rajmandir cinema hall where the posters were removed and set ablaze. The screening was stopped by the protesting activists. The activists heading the mob threatened the cinema hall owners that screening of PK movie would lead to dire consequences. During the whole protest and agitation by the activists police were present but did not bother to take action against the protestors.

Activists of Vishwa Hindu Parisad stormed the cinema halls of Neemuch protesting the scenes which are disgracing the Hindu gods. If the movie would be screened the infuriated activists who are very angry over the scenes in the movie would vandalise the cinema halls screening the movie due to which the screening was forcefully stopped as disgracing Hindu Gods and Goddess is not acceptable.

Police said that heavy police force was deployed at the cinema halls to avoid any untoward action and no one was injured in the protest but property was damaged by the activists.
