Haryana raises award money for CWG, other medalists

After the success of players from the State and the country in the ongoing Commonwealth Games, Haryana Government on Wednesday announced a steep hike in monetary incentives for the achievers at the Glasgow edition and also for the future winners at upcoming Asian Games.

"I congratulate the players of Haryana who have won medals at the Commonwealth Games. So far, players from Haryana have won eight medals including three gold and five silver," Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said after chairing a meeting of the State Cabinet here.

He said that on their return from CWG, the government would hold a function to honour them.

Hooda also said from now on, winners of gold, silver and bronze medals at the Asian Games would get Rs  two crore, Rs one crore and Rs 50 lakh respectively instead of Rs 25 lakh, Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lakh earlier.

He announced that winners of gold, silver and bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games, the award money has been raised to Rs one crore, Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh from Rs 15 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs five lakh respectively.

He said that for Olympics, the State Government has already announced to give Rs  five crore for winner of gold, Rs  three crore for silver and Rs  two crore for bronze medal.

lump Sum Composition Scheme for developers, builders

Haryana Cabinet also approved to introduce lump Sum Composition Scheme for developers and builders with effect from April 1, 2014 so as to enable them to pay their tax in lump sum. It was also decided to bring a new provision in the HVAT Act through an Ordinance under which an Amnesty Scheme would be started for the recovery of old arrears of taxes for the period prior to March 31 , 2014

Haryana Kesh Kala and Kaushal Vikas Board

The Haryana Cabinet also approved the setting up of "Haryana Kesh Kala and Kaushal Vikas Board" to revive and promote the heritage, continuity and up-gradation of the art of hair grooming and to co-ordinate and assist in bringing new technologies into the profession of the traditional community.

Maternity leave to female employees on contract basis

Haryana Cabinet decided to revise its scheme for grant of maternity leave to its female employees engaged on contract basis. Now a women employee eligible for maternity benefits and whose services have been hired on contract basis in a lawfully authorised manner shall be entitled to fully paid maternity leave up to a maximum of six months or till the currency of the subsisting contract, whichever is earlier.
