Chhattisgarh Government will provide one time grant of Rsone lakh for economically weaker section (EWS) and Rs50,000 for lower Income Group (lIG) houses in Naya Raipur project area. A target of construction of 40,000 houses in Naya Raipur was decided under these categories, in a meeting of Housing and Environment Department held here at Mantralaya on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Raman Singh reviewed the working of Housing and Environment department in the meeting. It was resolved in the meeting that these houses will be constructed by Chhattisgarh Housing Board and Naya Raipur Development Authority will provide land to the Housing Board for just Rs1 per square feet.
Singh directed the officers that the quality of the houses should be good and to minimize the construction cost negotiations should be done with cement and steel companies for supply of material at lower rates.
It was informed in the meeting that the Housing Board has set a target of constructing one lakh affordable houses in the State over the next four years. Besides this the Housing Board will also construct toilets in 100 girls’ schools under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The officers informed that Housing Board has constructed about 85000 houses under different housing schemes of the State government since its formation in 2004. Of these 85 percent houses have been constructed for poor and economically weaker sections.
The officers also informed the Chief Minister that Housing Board will start paperless working in its different branches from April 1, 2015. An action plan has been prepared for this.
Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department DS Misra, Additional Chief Secretary of Housing and Environment department N Baijendra Kumar, Principal Secretary of Public Works Department Amitabh Jain, Commissioner of Chhattisgarh Housing Board Sanjay Shukla, Vice-Chairman of Naya Raipur Development Authority SS Bajaj, CEO of NRDA Amit Kataria and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
