Paddy farmers have incurred huge loss due to ‘anti-farmer policy’ of the State Government including that of limiting paddy procurement to 10 quintals per acre,” alleged Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) chief, Bhupesh Baghel here on Saturday.
While addressing a Press conference, Baghel alleged that due to failure on the part of authority concerned to ensure purchasing of paddy crops on minimum support price in grain markets, the farmers are being cheated and exploited by the middlemen, which is an open violation of Krishi Upaj Mandi Act.
Slamming the State Government for allegedly going back from its promises made to the farmers during the Assembly polls held last year, Baghel urged paddy farmers to register their protest by refraining from selling crops to the societies from December 1.He also asked farmers for approaching the co-operative societies to make cash payment of their crops, instead of adjusting it in the loans.
Speaking on their ongoing tirade against the Government over botched sterilisation case which killed 13 women earlier this month, Baghel announced to continue their protest until justice was served to the victims.
“Apollo Hospital should release a medical bulletin to reveal adverse reactions of spurious medicines used in the botched sterilisation surgery on kidney and liver of the women patients and the reasons of their once again admitting in the hospital for treatment” he demanded.
Meanwhile, Baghel informed to call a meeting of the office-bearers and the districts’ presidents, at Congress Bhawan on December 4, to review preparations being made for its programme to gherao Prime Minister’s residence on December 10.
During their protest in New Delhi, the party will lay down a five-point charter of demands including resignation of Chief Minister Raman Singh and filing a criminal case against Health Minister Amar Agrawal in the botched sterilisation case, procuring every single grain of paddy on MSP of Rs2,100/quintal and distributing bonus of Rs300/quintal to the paddy farmers.
