Taking it as a top priority, the State Government is all set to recruit more than 30,000 teachers in the State run-primary and secondary schools. The process was on hold for several months hitting political hurdles and policy failure. As of now, the Human Resources Development (HRD) department is working on war-footing in coordination with the Personnel department, Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to accomplish the recruitment.
In primary section comprising Class I to V, 4,275 teachers will be employed in the general subject’s category as well as in Urdu. As many as 7,926 teachers for both the categories are to be recruited through direct entry and promotion for Class VI to VIII.
Both the mentioned vacancies were on a halt due to a High Court case over appointment of 2011 Teacher Eligibility Test pass out candidates. In a meeting with the Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday, HRD department officials informed that the process cannot be forwarded unless the High Court issues an order. This is possible after January 5, when the court re-opens.
Notably, the Government had completed the teacher’s recruitment for Class I to VIII in Ranchi and Palamau before the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. Meanwhile, the recruitment from Class IX to X is divided in three categories. Around 3,718 posts are vacant at Upgraded High Schools out of which JAC is yet to declare the result of 2850 candidates. For other types of Upgraded High Schools, 6,555 posts are to be fulfilled while 1,749 posts are to be fulfilled at High Schools.
HRD Secretary Aradhana Patnaik said that the requisites for High School teacher appointment have been sent to Staff Selection Commission. As many as 513 teachers are to be recruited at intermediate level. Patnaik said that they are aiming to complete this pending teacher’s recruitment at the earliest. Sources maintained it is likely to be done by the end of this financial year.
Inspired by the Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Navodaya schools, HRD department has decided to hold pre-test for matric and inter aspirants from this session onwards. A meeting related to the matter was held between Patnaik, District Education Officers (DEOs) and teachers.
“We will conduct a week-long crash course for the weak students after the result of pre-test. If required, we will hold another crash course for the same duration. In this way, the performance of the students will enhance,” Patnaik said. Interestingly, the question paper of pre-test and crash courses will be prepared by DEOs and Master Trainers of JAC confidentially.
Also, HRD will take a new initiative as part of its New Year resolution. Patnaik will appeal every education officer to adopt a Government school. “I will send the appeal to all the Deputy Commissioners, District Superintendent of Education Officers, DEOs and other education officers on January 1,” she said.
