Madhya Pradesh is the fist state to implement Veerangana Yojana after the Nirbhaya case for social and political empowerment of women. The scheme has brought forward a fully alert and active face of Madhya Pradesh which is sensitive vis-à-vis atrocities against women in the state. The scheme is being implemented by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. Through it, women and girls are being imparted special self-defence training.
Martial art training to women and girls is being imparted at every district headquarter. A target has been set to train 500 girls/women in every district. Training under Veerangana Yojana has been imparted to 19 thousand 890 girls/women in 42 district till March 2014.
