Refusal of parents for marriage provoked a 19-year old girl to attempt suicide. The victim first consumed poisonous substance and later attempted to slash her wrist. However, she is still alive and her condition is reportedly stable. The incident was reported near Khatlapura area under Jehangirabad police station area on Saturday.

According to the police, a girl who attempted suicide in Jehangirabad area was rushed to Hamidia hospital where her condition is reported stable. The girl was identified as Shabana Khan of Janata colony of Aishbagh area.Investigating Officer SI Rajesh Thakur said that the condition of the victim is stable and would recover. This has also been confirmed by the attending doctors.

The victim claimed that she was in relationship with Shawar and wanted to marry him but his parents refused for the marriage which forced her to take the extreme step.Meanwhile, a 30-year-old married woman, who had sustained serious burns after her clothes caught fire on November 26 at Narela village under Berasia police station area, died while undergoing treatment at Hamidia hospital on Saturday.

According to the police, Rekha sustained serious burns after her clothes caught fire which occurred due to a leak in the gas pipe. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition deteriorated on November 27 and she succumbed to her injuries late in the night on the same day.

In the investigation family claimed that victim’s was injured accidentally but police have told that other aspects would also be investigated. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
