The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch on Monday arrested Gajanan Property Dealer and Construction Pvt ltd managing director Niranjan Parida of Kendrapada in a land fraud case. He was forwarded to the court on Tuesday, said EOW official sources.
According to Crime Branch DIG Rajesh Kumar, Parida misappropriated an amount of `2.84 crore from HAl Housing Committee, Sunabeda over a land deal issue. The builder had entered into three land deals between 2009 and 2010 and assured the committee members to arrange lands in the city, but failed to provide it within stipulated time period, he added.
Kumar said that Parida had bought 48.510 acres of land in Giringaput and Bhagabatipur Mouza at a cost of `9.4 crore and registered around 42.151 acres of land in the name of the committee after receiving `11.27 crore. He registered the balance 6.359 acres of land in his own name instead of registering it in the name of committee members. In that way, Parida duped the committee members of `2.84 crore including `55 lakh as development cost of the land, he added.
