FM College witnesses tension after poll results

The FM College here witnessed tension after the results of the students’ union poll were declared on Monday evening. Sources said though the polling passed off peacefully, supporters of two groups clashed with each other after the results were declared in the evening. The situation was brought under control after police intervention.

A large number of police personnel were deployed in the two colleges located here, FM College and KKS Women’s College, after the incident. In the KKS +3 Women’s College, while Mamata Jena has been elected as president, Subhashree Panda as vice president, Qullip Pradhan as general secretary and Debashree Singha was elected as dramatic secretary.

Those who won other seats are Sasmita Behera, Hemangini Mohanty, Debipriya Kar, Subhadaya Das, Sumati Behera, Mausumi Sahu, Rajshree Barik and Riturani Behera, most of them are independents. Candidates of the new independent team ‘Satya Meva Jayate’ grabbed most of the seats in the FM College. In FM Plus Three College Gurudas Mohanty was elected as president, Rajesh Behera as vice president, Rahul Nath Tiwari as general secretary, Hrushikesh Kamila as assistant general secretary, Ananya Akankhita Kundu as dramatic secretary, Bhagyashree Behera as assistant dramatic secretary, Mohan Panda as athletic secretary and Anurag Panigrahi has been elected as assistant athletic secretary.
