Farmer commits suicide over damage

Debt ridden and incurring huge of damaged crops due to inclement weather, a farmer committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at Kulhor village under Berasia police station area on Wednesday.

According to the police, the victim Kamal Singh was found hanging at his residence. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. Police were informed and after preliminary investigation the body was sent for post mortem. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation. The family members have claimed that the victim after having dinner went to his room and was later found hanging.

He committed suicide due to the damaged crops and heavy debt increased further by an enormous amount after crops were damaged of abrupt weather conditions, they alleged, adding that Kamal had to pay around Rs2.5 lakh in the market. Police are providing different reasons behind the suicide; they claimed that the few months ago the victim met an accident and was made accused in the case and was under pressure that case.

Family members told that victim met an accident in the month of December 2013 and had claimed that the victim had borrowed money from money lenders and availed a bank loan.

The money was used in his medication and agriculture works but after bearing huge losses to the crops it had become impossible to repay the amount which forced him to take the extreme step. Ascertaining the reason behind the death of the victim is not possible but the reason could be revealed in further investigation.
