Electronic goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in the massive fire that broke out at an electronic goods shop at Kolar road on Thursday.
According to the Chunabhatti Police, at around 10 am fire broke out in the tent erected to display electronic goods of Meet electronic shop at Western Plaza complex at Kolar road.
After the fire broke out, police and fire brigade were informed. On receiving the information four fire tender vehicles reached the spot and started to put out the fire. It took around an hour to control it.
In the initial investigation, it was found that the fire broke out due to the sparking in the power supply line over the tent which soon engulfed the tent. The fire spread in the tent rapidly and before the fire tender vehicles could reach the spot and pacify the fire.
The electronic goods were displayed in a tent outside the showroom. Fridge, washing machine, microwave and other electronic goods were kept in the display.
Jasmeet Singh, owner of the shop has not informed police about the exact loss of goods. Moreover, the police are suspecting the incident, as the owner has not filed any written complaint in this regard.
The estimated loss in the fire is around Rs 10-12 lakh but the owner has not made any reported any estimation of losses to the police.
Police have started investigation into the matter. No one was injured in the incident as the fire broke out when employees were opening the shop.
