DPS students donate funds for J&K flood victims

A sum of Rs48,000 was donated to the flood-victims of Jammu-Kashmir by the students of Delhi Public School (DPS), Durg.

This was revealed by the DPS Principal Ms Parveen Rasheed at the residence of Chief Minister Raman Singh on Thursday.

The amount was collected by selling  old newspapers, according to an official press release issued here on Thursday.

Rasheed also presented a cheque of Rs1,72,279 to the Chief Minster’s Relief Fund on behalf of DPS, Durg. The step was taken to create awareness among the students towards the flood-hit. She said there are about 4000 students in the school. Most of them took active part in the

collection drive.

She said the staff of the also donated one-day’s salary towards the flood victims.

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness over the kind gesture of the school students and right values being inculcated by the school. Vice-Principal Remini Thomas, Head-Mistress Amita Mukherjee and Administrative Officer Rajeev Raghu were present.
