After death of 13 women at Government sterilisation camps this month because of sub-standard medicines administered to them, Bilaspur Collector Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi on Saturday ordered the medical shop retailers and wholesalers not to distribute banned drugs under any circumstances.

“People should inform the authorities if they find sale of the banned drugs in their neighbourhood. Stringent action will be taken against the defaulters,’’ Pardeshi informed.

He urged the citizens to spread awareness among the masses regarding the fake and adulterated drugs. He asked the shop-owners to put on posters mentioning the names of banned drugs.

The Collector has ordered the private nursing homes and medical practitioners not to prescribe the banned drugs to the patients.

Senior health officers in Bilaspur district have requested people to alert them about the fake medical practitioners as they are a danger to health of the ignorant masses.
