Featuring biographical documentaries, a three-day Film Festival ‘Vridanta’ is being organised at Bharat Bhavan. The festival began here on Wednesday at Abhirang Hall, Bharat Bhavan with the screening of two documentaries on ‘Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Prithviraj Kapoor’.
Organised under Chhavi series of classical cinema the festival would screen around 10 movies. While talking to The Pioneer, in-charge of Chhavi series of classical movies Narendra Rai said, “For the past four years we are organising this three-day film festival and have received a huge response by the audiences. Further, we aim to screen only biographical movies or documentaries which are made to promote Indian culture and traditions.” He further said that only one movie was screened on the first day of the as it was of the longest duration out of the 20 documentaries.
The documentaries covered all the important events from the lives of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Prithviraj Kapoor. Notably, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was a Hindustani Classical singer who is renowned for his enormous contribution in the world of classical music and raising its popularity. On the other hand Prithviraj Kapoor is another milestone of Bollywood industry whose lifespan was screened under the three day film fest.
The festival is all about ‘Art Discipline’ that includes great and known personalities in painting, music and other art forms. The movies that show the purity of music, dance and creations of legendary personalities would be screened under three-day festival.
The film festival is a major attraction for the students. Many youngsters including the art lovers and theatre goers of the city were a part of the film screening. Besides, people interested in making documentaries were also present at the fest and enjoyed watching the noted artists of the country on the big screen.
