The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) will stage a state-wide demonstration against the ruling BJP Government in Chhattisgarh by putting ‘economic blockades’ as a medium of protest over paddy procurement issue on November 1.
“All the preparations for the protest are in final stage. The party workers have been assigned their task while a number of meetings at the block, district and state level have been held by senior party leaders to make the demonstration a major success” said CGPCC president, Bhupesh Baghel said.
He claimed that ‘anti-farmer policies’ of the State government to limit the paddy procurement to 10 quintals per acre and refusing to give bonus on the crops has forced the Congress party to hold the protest to get justice to the farmers. Meanwhile, the State Party Chief expelled a member of CGPCC from Kawardha, J Salil Kumar for allegedly making comments on former Prime Minister and senior party leader, late Rajiv Gandhi in social media.
Baghel said that the step of expelling the party office-bearer was taken after the party high-command’s consent.
