Congress now frustrated: BJP

Wednesday, 30 April 2014 | Pioneer News Service | Lucknow

Stepping up its aggressive offensive against the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party, in an apocalyptic strain, said that it seemed that the Congress had accepted defeat even before the end of the elections as it was voicing its support to a third front government.

‘’Congress is frustrated and panicky. Its cadre and leaders have returned to their barracks conceding defeat. The Congress leaders’ open support to a third front government proves that they all their hopes have now faded,’’ BJP’s national spokesman Shahnawaj Hussain told reporters here on Tuesday. He added that the Congress and other so-called secular parties had raised a bogey of dread among Muslims asking them to not to vote for the BJP. ‘’These secular parties are responsible for the backwardness of Muslims in the country as they did nothing for them during their regimes but always crocodile tears on their conditions,” he averred.

Appealing Muslims to support the BJP, he convinced them that only the latter could uplift their social and economic conditions. He also assailed Muslim clerics for issuing fatwas in support of a particular party during the elections.‘’Casting your vote do not send you to ‘jannat’ but it will certainly make your livelihood and your future bright,’’ he said and questioned that why clerics did not issue fatwas against corruption, price hike and misrule of the UPA Government.

The BJP leader asked the Election Commission to take cognizance of the threat given to district officials by a senior bureaucrat. ‘’A senior officials attached to UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is repeatedly threatening district officials to work for the Samajwadi Party as the state government will continue for another three years,’’ he said, adding that the EC should probe and take action against the official.Refusing to comment on yoga guru Baba Ramdev on his controversial statement on  Rahul Gandhi, Hussain clarified: ‘’Baba’s intention was not to insult Dalits and he has already tendered an apology over his remarks.’’

However, in a retort to National Conference leader Farooq Abudullah’s statement that voters supporting Modi should be drowned in the ocean, Hussain remarked in a sardonic tone: ‘’Abdullah himself is losing the elections and hence making such ridiculous statements.’’He also blamed that the condition of Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims in Kashmir was deplorable only due to the lopsided and myopic policies of Farooq Abdullah and his family. He asserted that the BJP was committed to uplift Kashmiri Pandits who had been living in other places of the country as refugees,’’ he said.

The BJP spokesperson also claimed that the vituperative language being used by Opposition parties against Narendra Modi was only helping the BJP and Modi’s popularity was surging by the day.
