After days of protest, mayhem and squabbles, the Congress party's Chhattisgarh unit is finally ready with its final list of lok Sabha candidates for all 11 seats with the confirmation of the name of Satyanarayan Sharma to contest from Raipur lok Sabha constituency.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, State Congress Media In-charge Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said that the Congress party had been successful in bagging one seat each only in the lok Sabha elections held in 2004 and 2009 from Chhattisgarh - Mahasamund and Korba.
This time also, the Congress candidates of both the Korba and Mahasamund seats, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Dr Charandas Mahant and former State Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, respectively, would win from the constituencies.
This time round, Chief Minister Raman Singh had himself accepted stiff contest in four seats including Bilaspur and Durg, which, in one way, is his acceptance of defeat of BJP in the four seats, Trivedi said.
Along with these four seats, the BJP has been facing stiff opposition in the three reserved seats of Sarguja, Bastar and Kanker, from where, victory of the Congress candidates is decided. The BJP's defeat in all other seats, including Janjgir ST seat, seems to be inevitable, he said.
Trivedi said that Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, during his Chhattisgarh visit on January 29 last had made a target of winning all the 11 seats of Chhattisgarh. With this target, every Congress leader and worker of Chhattisgarh is moving forward to achieve the goal.
looking to the interest and hard work of the Congress workers, Chief Minister Raman Singh and the BJP leadership had been desperate, he said.
