Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and SAD president Sukhbir Badal on Thursday claimed that a large number of Congress legislators and senior Opposition leaders were ready to join the party.
Addressing a gathering of SAD-BJP workers at Majitha in Amritsar district, Sukhbir said Congress party’s ship is sinking in Punjab with a large number of Congress legislators and senior leaders ready to join the SAD.
He added, “We are facing a problem of plenty… Congress rank and file has already thrown in the towel and its leaders are looking at the SAD as the only alternative.”
Media advisor in the Congress, Prof Sarchand Singh, left the party to re-join the Akali Dal in the presence of Sukhbir and Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia. Besides, former president of Nagar Council Majithia and Congress leader Prabhdyal Singh also joined the SAD.
Speaking at Ferozepur, Sukhbir called upon the people of Punjab to lead the country for the formation of NDA Government under the leadership of Narendra Modi to save country from UPA Government’s misrule.
Terming the Congress-led UPA Government as “directionless and leaderless Government”, he said that in last 10 years, they had adopted a single point agenda to loot the country.
