Cong asks Modi to drop Harsimrat from Cabinet

Wednesday, 31 December 2014 | PNS | Chandigarh

Punjab Congress on Tuesday asked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to drop SAD MP from Bathinda Harsimrat Badal from his Cabinet “immediately”.

The State Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa reminded Modi that Deputy CM and SAD president Sukhbir Badal, who is Harsimrat’s husband, “is issuing secessionist statements and instigating people to protest against BSF at the border”. Bajwa also called upon the Congressmen to prepare for Vidhan Sabha polls in the State “which can happen any time”. “This action of Sukhbir Badal has caused a constitutional crisis because the BSF is under Union Home Minister and he is a State Home Minister. This crisis has brought Union and the State Government into direct conflict which requires immediate solution by dismissing Punjab Govt and dropping Harsimrat Badal before January 5,” said Bajwa.
