legal luminaries from across the country would participate in a two-day conference beginning here on Friday to discuss on judicial reforms.
To be organised jointly by Raipur Society for Justice, Forum for Fast Justice, Mumbai, and Chhattisgarh Society for Fast Justice, the conference will be inaugurated by former justice of Chhattisgarh High Court and principal lokayukt justice lC Bhadu.
The conference would be chaired by chairman of the Form for fast justice Mumbai, Bhagbandas Raiyani. Participants and organisers are upbeat as a national conference on the subject is being held for the first time in Raipur.
In a joint press conference chairman of the Raipur society for justice Ajit Anand Degwekar, secretary Rakesh Chubey, and state unit chairman of the society for fast justice Praveen Patel said the importance of this conference would be the discussion. They said legal experts from across the country will present their opinion on the need for brining reforms in judicial sector. ``Today the justice delivery has become so slow in the country that the chief justice of Delhi in his annual report had stated that it will take 466 years to dispose the cases piled up in the court by 2011,’’ they said.
Citing the cases piling up the courts, they said in 1956 it was 22 lakh while in 2012 it went up to 3.40 cr.
According to a report, if the same situation prevails, the number of cases waiting for judgement would be 12 crore by 2040.
