Taking a cue from the outbreak of jaundice in certain localities of Raipur city, District Collector Ashok Agrawal on Tuesday visited about a dozen wards and slums areas to review general cleanliness and hygiene levels in the city.
The Collector accompanied by Rajnandgaon Municipal Commissioner T K Verma besides other administrative officials visited Rajeev Nagar, Indira Nagar, Choukhadia Para, lakholi, Kanchanbag and other wards.
Agrawal urged the Municipal Commissioner to take several preventive measures to ensure that outbreak of seasonal diseases do not take place in the city’s various localities. Agrawal while visiting lakholi ward in the city directed the officials to take extra care of the locality. Taking benefit of the visit, the residents met the Collector and aired their grievances.
The Collector also directed the health officials to ensure that the water supplied through pipelines are purified properly. He also urged the residents to dump garbage in appropriate places to prevent pollution. They advised them to ensure that the waste do not get deposited in the drain as drains are often chocked by Polythene and plastic bags.
