To mark the World Heart Day, Dr Amita Singh advised the citizens to lead a simple lifestyle for a healthy heart. “On the occasion of World Heart Day take a pledge to keep your heart healthy and strong. If you are suffering or have suffered any heart attack, then World Heart Day is the right time to know about the various non-modifiable and modifiable risk factors, and prevent such attacks in future,” says Dr Amita Singh.
World Heart Day is a global event to raise awareness towards the risks of cardiovascular disease and to highlight disease prevention observed on September 29. World Heart Day, created by the World Heart Foundation, aims to reduce the number of cardiovascular deaths by 25 per cent by 2025.
Dr Amita Singh, Bhopal based Nutrition Expert, says, “Following a healthy, balanced diet helps to prevent the risk of developing a heart disease or if you already have a heart condition, a healthy diet can benefit your heart. Try eating about a handful of almonds daily as they are rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that can help preventing harmful oxidation of cholesterol within your blood stream.”
California Almonds has been dedicated to heart health research for decades. In fact, nearly two decades of research supports the role of almonds in helping maintain healthy hearts and healthy cholesterol levels.
She further explains, “There is no shortcut to a healthy heart. It is a conscious move towards a healthier lifestyle that requires constant reminders and strong willpower. Eating well balanced meals made up of all the necessary nutrients, exercising, sleeping adequately and quitting smoking are all cornerstones in protecting your heart against diseases. Get these simple lifestyle changes right and you would be on your way to a healthy-heart life.”
