The district administration will organise an array of activities to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Friday.

Collector Niranjan Das has issued directives to take pledge on ‘National Unity Day’ in all the Government offices and establishments of public sectors. Besides, he urged the people from all walks of life to participate in the ‘Run for Unity’ to start from Government Boys HS School at 9 am.

The City Police, Paramilitary Force, Home Guard, NCC, NSS and Scouts Guide’s cadets will hold a March-past and Parade in Police Parade Ground at 4 pm.

Meanwhile, the Collector on Thursday constituted a district- level committee for identification of the people belonging to Third Gender Category.

The Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Shivkumar Sahu, social worker, Govind Ram Kosma, Nehra Yadav, psychiatrists and officials from the social justice department will be members of the Committee.

The Committee will identify and provide certificates to the people belong to Third Gender to avail benefits of different government run schemes and other facilities meant for them.

Besides, appointments on the post of returning and assistant returning officers for conducting polls of Nagar Palika Parishad, Gariaband and three Nagar Panchayats fall under Gariaband district were made.

Following the directives issued by Chhattisgarh State Election Commission, the Collector, Niranjan Das has been appointed as the Returning Officer while Tehsildar, GS Nag and the Chief Municipal Council Officer, PR Korram has been appointed as the assistant returning officers for Nagar Palika Parishad, Gariaband.

Similarly, appointments on the post of returning and assistant returning officers for Rajim, Chura and Findeshwar Nagar Panchayat have been made as per the instructions.
