The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team probing the murder of Tata Motors’ AGM Brajesh Sahay is focussing on cracking the password of slain Tata Motors executive’s laptop. Sources went on to inform that the investigating team is pinning hopes on the laptop to grab substantial clues.
A senior officer in the CID who is assisting the district police in the probe said that the password of the murder victim’s laptop will provide a vital clue to the people behind the murder. “We are yet to scan the laptop once we get the password we would be in position to study the conversation of the executive,” said a team member.
Brajesh Sahay (40) assistant general manager, TMl Drivelines (a subsidiary of Tata Motors) was shot dead down by unidentified assailants in front of his at Nildih under Telco police station in the night or February 22. City SP, Karthik S claimed that the probe into the Sahay murder case is moving in the right direction and they are hopeful to crack it soon.
“The investigation into the murder case is on. We are hopeful of getting a breakthrough in the case shortly,” said Karthik, but declined to say anything further. But a CID officer said that the password of the laptop was presently the only ray of hope to get a clue to the murderers. According to the officer, the police had also got the murder victim’s cell-phone checked and had obtained the call details records (CDRs) of the persons with home Sahay had talked to prior to his murder.
According to company sources, the compulsory retirement scheme was introduced in December 2013 for non-performing officials, managers and supervisors in the TMl Drivelines in the backdrop of the global economic crisis. Around 300 employees were forced to seek employment under this scheme so far. The police suspect that this might have led to the murder. The team led by city SP Karthik S along with two DSPs, DSP city KN Choudhary and DSP law and order BN Singh and officer-in-charge of three police stations- Telco, Parsudih and Golmuri are probing.
Police are also probing into the animosity angle between the executive and ancillary units who supply spare parts for commercial vehicle. Since last four-five months, the company had adopted strict measures on scrutiny of credentials of supply vendors and only if they had local factories they were given supply orders.
