Chhattisgarh basketball team had a good start in 64th Senior National Basketball Championship underway in New Delhi. The women’s team registered an easy win over Madhya Pradesh in the first league match while Men’s team moved to next round by defeating Delhi, informed official of basketball team here on Thursday.
Officials further informed the in women’s event team Chhattisgarh trounced Madhya Pradesh by 76-35 in the first league match. Seema Singh scored 15 points, Poonam Chaturvedi and Kavita scored 14 points each, Sangeeta Kaur scored 7 points, Saranjeet Kaur scored 8 points and l Deepa scored 4 points to take the women’s team home in the first match. Chhattisgarh that is in pool-B will clash with Tamil Nadu in its second league match.
In men’s category Chhattisgarh registered victory over host Delhi by 67-46. Ajay Pratap Singh and Kiranpal Singh scored where highest scorer from Chhattisgarh who made 24 points each followed by Shyam Sunder scored 9 points, Vishvamvar Pandey scored 7 points, P Rajesh scored 3 and Ravi Kumar scored 2 points.
