'Census research helps Govt in preparing various plans'

The census research on various issues linked to the population helps the Government prepare various plans’, Director, census, Renu G Pillai said on Wednesday.

She was addressing a day-long workshop titled ‘Ankde Prakirnan’ (dispersion of figures) organised by the Chhattisgarh Census Directorate here .

Pillai said that people’s co-operation is necessary for carrying out census work which is useful for the people. Through census, the research report on the issues related to the general public presented by the Planning Commission and researchers is also helpful for the government in preparation of various plans. “Chhattisgarh has a population of 2,55,45,198,” she said.

In the workshop, organised to make census figures available to the general public, senior officers of Woman and Child Development Department, Economics and Statistics Department, Directorate of Public Instructions, State Planning Commission, Home (Census) Department, Staff Selection Commission, National Sample Survey Organisation and principals and professors of various colleges were present.

In the workshop, officers of the Census Directorate, through power point presentation, informed how the common man and researchers could easily get census related information besides what benefit people could have from census reports apart from how information could be downloaded from the departmental website.

The officers said that all census-related figures were available on www.censusinfo.india.
