A person was killed and as many as 49 persons were injured, 13 of them critically, after a private bus turned turtle and fell into the Chitrotpala river near Bedari old embankment at Patkura in Kendrapada district. The bus ‘Shree laxmi’ was on its way from Batira to Cuttack, police said.
All the injured persons were rushed to the local CHC and 14 of them, who were found critical, were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Of them, 11 were referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated. One of the 11 persons succumbed to his injuries while he was being shifted to the SCB, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Harekrushna Sethy of Mangarajpur village.
