Bombs hurled at Odisha's Choudwar jail barrack by criminals

Wednesday, 31 December 2014 | PNS | ATHAGARH

Seven hardcore criminals recently hurled three bombs at the Choudwar Circle Jail warders’ barrack at the behest of an under-trial, who had been demanding free movement and better facilities inside the jail.

While the police managed to arrest two of them, Sk Babu and Md Akil, five others are still absconding. The police have seized a Pulsar motorcycle and four mobiles from them. Cuttack Zone-1 ACP Trinath Mishra and Choudwar police station IIC Ajay Kumar Das at a Press conference held on Tuesday informed that the seven criminals came by three motorcycles near to the

Choudwar Circle Jail and hurled three bombs at the warders’ barrack in order to create fear psychosis among the Jail staffs. “Accused Md Sakil had been asking Warder Prahallad Mallick and others for free movement and better facilities for him. As Mallick and others refused to meet his demands, Md Sakil threatened them of dire consequences. Accordingly, he chalked out a plan and became success in hurling bombs at warders’ barrack on December 26 evening through his associates,” the two officers said.
