Tension prevailed at JP Nagar when a body was recovered in a gunny bag under Gautam Nagar area on Thursday.
According to the police, at around 7 am the police received a phone call regarding a gunny bag lying in the area under suspicious circumstances. A police team was rushed to the spot and when the gunny bag was opened, the police personnel found body of an unidentified man in the age group of 40-45 years.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the victim was murdered by slitting his throat.
The circumstantial evidences suggest that murder was planned hatching a conspiracy so that the victim can not be identified. The assailants left almost no evidence with the body. It has been established that the victim was killed somewhere else and later dumped the body in gunny bag in Rambha Colony of JP Nagar.
Superintendent of Police Bhopal (North) Arvind Saxena visited the spot after receiving the information and told that investigation has commenced.
Some clothes along with the body were found in the gunny bag but nothing was found in the clothes which could help in the investigation.
The victim might have been killed in between midnight and 3 am and the body was dumped after 6 am as the locals who went to offer Namaz spotted the bag only after they were returning home, told police.
In the area, no one has been reported missing and the locals have confirmed that the victim did not belong to the vicinity. Police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and have started further investigation. Efforts have been initiated for identification of the body by sending details of the victim to all the police stations of the district and neighbouring districts.
