The BJP said it will not allow FDI in retail in the country if NDA comes to power but resolved to promote FDI in infrastructure and other sectors which collapsed during the 10-year UPA regime in the country.
'The dream of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had turned into a nightmare for the country as it failed to control the country's economy besides chased away the foreign investment and investors,' BJP national spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi said in aPress conference here on Sunday.
Economy is in a mess as foreign investors are not willing to invest in our country. Besides, corruption in the UPA regime has given a death blow to the industrial development of the country, Trivedi said.He said NDA will never accept FDI in retail as it will hurt the country's own retailers.
Trivedi said NDA regime between 1999 and 2004 generated 60 million employment but during in UPA rule it was just around 40 million. 'UPA blames recession for the lack of growth rate but can its answer 8 per cent growth rate during NDA regime even after sanctions imposed by the US and other countries after Pokhran explosion and later the Kargil war,' he said.
Churning out statistics as how NDA had managed the economy better than the UPA government Trivedi said industrial growth of UPA government was zero while in NDA it was 6.5 per cent, food inflation which never crossed more than 4 per cent in NDA but in the UPA government it was 9 per cent.
The BJP leader said if NDA comes to power manufacturing and infrastructure sector will be given priority. The new government will also try to end income disparity of the employees.
