In a bid to avoid infighting within the BJP over Doiwala Assembly seat, which is considered as stronghold of the party, BJP may field former MP Satpal Maharaj from Doiwala consitituency. Maharaja had joined the BJP after deserting Congress during general election and party witnessed phenomenal result.
Since Maharaj joined the BJP, Maharaj’s wife and MlA Amrita Rawat was being targeted by the Congress and ultimately she lost Cabinet birth in Harish Rawat Government. Doiwala Assesmbly seat having 50 per cent hilly voters, who had shifted to Dehradun due to their personal reason, and high dominance of Thakur caste.
The Congress has already fielded Heera Singh Bisht from Doiwala so the BJP may declare Satpal Maharaj, who is also a Thakur leader, name from Doiwala.
Being a spritual leader Maharaj is having large number of followers in Doiwala constituency. Sources further said that BJP wants to regain the seat at any cost so Satpal Maharaj may be given a chance to regain the seat.
